Project Description
Students were asked to find 5 different font styles and choose from one of them to make some sort of abstraction. They first had to type out a 9 letter word in each of the five fonts and then choose which one interested them the most. From there they had to compile some sort of composition with the letters in Adobe Illustrator. As the letters would overlap or intersect they could find out the negative and positive spaces they were creating. Students had to create 4 compositions of the chosen font. The next step was to switch the positive and negative spaces and create a set of shapes. These shapes would then be the basis of the final step and that was to create a totally abstract composition from the letters.
