Project Description
After reading an excerpt from "Memory of Water" by Emmi Itaranta, students took a trip to the St. Louis Zoo located in Forrest Park and had to take pictures of textures based off the reading. From there, students were asked to collage two pictures together, but in away that created a language between the two textures. This was to be used as a way formulate a common connection between the two very different textures and then expressing those commonalities through a palimpsest. The words in the layered final palimpsest describe that of the landscape.

Collage of two textures chosen - leaves and a tree trunk

Palimpsest - graphite on tracing paper
